TVS (Test Value Static™), a patented technology developed by ALL-TEST Pro, analyzes multiple motor tests to create a single ‘health assessment’ value that is trended over time. A deviation of greater than 3% of the initial TVS value indicates a failing component. Simple as that.
ALL-TEST Pro deenergized (offline) motor testing instruments use Motor Circuit Analysis™ (MCA) to analyze the entirety of the internal components and external cables for potential faults.
These instruments provide multiple, individual testing functions for various components within and around the motor.
The ‘IND’ test (IND meaning ‘Industrial’) guides the user through the necessary tests to generate an overall health assessment of the motor.
This ‘health assessment’ is a numerical value, called TVS (Test Value Static). The TVS number itself is not a score but a reference value to be compared against over time. Each time the motor is analyzed with the IND test, the TVS should be within a 3% deviation of the initial TVS value.
A greater than 3% deviation from the initial TVS value indicates an issue to be further investigated. Greater than a 6% deviation indicates a complete failure within a component and the motor will need to be replaced.
TVS values are generated using a proprietary algorithm, developed by ALL-TEST Pro, that combines multiple motor analysis results. Each TVS value is unique to its motor. However, working motors of the same name plate and manufacturer will have the same (or similar) TVS values.
With that said, it’s necessary to conduct the initial IND test while commissioning new motors, but motors with the same name plate and manufacturer can compare against one TVS afterwards to save time.
“We use a lot of sophisticated diagnostic tools like vibration, current signature, and other FFT-based analysis systems. When quality test or troubleshooting a motor, ATP is an important part of our ‘final say’. It enables us to pinpoint the problem, and it has always been right.”
